MA Officer Shot in Face, Expected to Make Full Recovery

A Braintree (MA) Police Department officer who was shot in the face at a motel Friday night during a standoff was released from the hospital Sunday, reports WCVB .

Police said Sunday that Officer Donald Delaney is doing very well and is expected to make a full recovery. "He will have a full recovery, albeit some marks," Braintree Police Chief Paul Shastany told the Patriot Ledger .

The seven-year veteran had to undergo surgery after a projectile lodged in his head following a standoff with 25-year-old Tizaya Jordan Robinson.

Robinson fired several rounds at officers when they tried to gain access to his room at the Motel 6 at 125 Union St. He was found dead inside room 113 early Saturday.

Delaney, 36, was spoken of highly during a press conference Saturday, where authorities mentioned the officer is a Marine Corps veteran who has received two life-saving awards while with the department.

"He has performed, on a regular basis, in a very admirable way and he is an excellent police officer," Braintree Mayor Joe Sullivan said.
