Detective Jason Weiland, a 15-year veteran of the Everest Metro Police Department, was shot as he approached an apartment complex in Weston, a small town about 90 miles west of Green Bay, a person with knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press on Thursday. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to comment on the investigation.
