Officials Identify Slain SC Officer as 30-Year Veteran

Officials have identified the officer killed in an ambush yesterday while serving a warrant in an affluent area of Florence, SC, as Officer Terrence Carraway, 52. Carraway was a 30-year veteran of the Florence Police Department.
Six other law enforcement officers were also shot during the ambush and standoff, including three Florence County Sheriff's deputies and three Florence police officers. Their conditions have not been officially released. Florence Mayor John Wukela said some of the other officers were "seriously" wounded Fox Carolina reports.
Suspect Fred Hopkins, 74, was also wounded in the shooting. Reports say he was shot in the head. He is in custody, WPDE TV reports.
According to the Associated Press, the sheriff's office says Hopkins fired on deputies investigating alleged sexual assault of a child by another person. The AP says officers were trying to serve a warrant involving an accusation that a 27-year-old person at the home sexually assaulted a foster child in the home.
The AP also reports 74-year-old Hopkins is a disbarred lawyer, charged with disorderly conduct in 2014.
A 20-year-old civilian inside the home was also shot, according to Glenn Kirby with Florence County SO.
