VIDEO: Off-Duty Rookie Fired Over Confrontation with Uniformed Officer
A rookie officer with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police has been fired over a confrontation with a uniformed officer with the Swissvale (PA) Police Department.
A witness caught the incident on cell phone video as 25-year-old Sidney Bates—who had just been sworn in with the Pittsburgh police in May—got into a dispute with an officer in the street.
Bates' attorney said that the firing occurred without the officer ever having a conversation with command staff.
Bates will file a grievance against the city to try to get his job back, according to WPXI-TV News.
