A school resource officer with the Orangeburg (SC) Department of Public Safety has been fired following charges filed against him for third-degree domestic violence.
According to WLTX-TV News, 43-year-old Eric Bonaparte and his wife were at a holiday function when he reportedly struck the woman in the face with a closed fist.
A police report alleges that Bonaparte continued to batter his wife at their home after returning from the event.
A responding officer reported seeing swelling and blackness to the victim's eye.
Orangeburg DPS Chief Mike Adams informed Bonaparte that he was being arrested and fired.
