The National Police Dog Foundation and United for Blue have announced that they will host the second annual Police K-9 Memorial Service on May 11 as part of National Police Week ceremonies honoring fallen officers.
"In 2018 our nation lost 27 K-9 heroes in the line of duty," the National Police Foundation said on its website. "The memorial service includes a wreath-laying ceremony to honor the memory of fallen police K-9s who have given their lives in the line of duty."
The National Police Dog Foundation has set up a K-9 Memorial Fund to assist agencies that "are not only grieving from the loss of one of their K-9 officers but also who do not have the funds to replace the K-9s."
