Man Found Guilty in Murder of Chicago Police Officer in 2011
The man accused of shooting and killing Officer Clifton Lewis during a 2011 robbery at convenience store has been found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery.
The man accused of shooting and killing Officer Clifton Lewis during a 2011 robbery at convenience store has been found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the verdict in the case against 31-year-old Alexander Villa was handed down by a Cook County jury late Thursday.
Villa was reportedly one of two gunmen who entered the store in an effort to rob it when they encountered Lewis, who was off-duty and working a second job as a security guard.
A co-defendant—identified as Edgardo Colon—was found guilty two years ago and was sentenced to 84 years in prison.
