A woman has been charged with attempted murder after reportedly opening fire on an officer with the Chicago Police Department on Saturday night.
According to NBC News, the woman—identified as 19-year-old Emily Petronella—has been charged with felony counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault of a peace officer with a weapon, armed violence, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and manufacture and delivery of over 5,000 grams of cannabis.
The woman reportedly opened fire as tactical officers were attempting to enter the back door of a dwelling, striking one officer in the shoulder.
The 34-year-old officer was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Chicago PD Superintendent Eddie Johnson told reporters that the officer—who has not been identified—is "in good spirits."
