Officials in the West Texas cities of Midland and Odessa are reporting that 21 people were shot Saturday afternoon and five killed in a shooting rampage that a police spokesperson described as a "mobile active shooting." A suspect was killed by law enforcement. Two officers are among the wounded.
ABC News reports that a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was the first person shot in the rampage, which started shortly after 3 p.m. with a traffic stop on I-20.
