Deputies with the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office were called to the home of an elderly couple on Sunday evening who reported that they had an unwelcome visitor—a mountain lion that had been in pursuit of a neighbor's pet cat.

According to Fox News, 84-year-old Edward and 87-year-old Kathy Sudduth reported that the big cat came very close to them as they sat in their living room before it bolted into the bathroom of the home.

Deputies and officials with the Department of Fish and Wildlife devised a plan to extricate the animal from the small enclosed space, and with the permission of the Sudduths, broke the window from the outside, allowing the cat to leave.

The sheriff's office joked on Facebook, "The perpetrator slyly made his way through the open front door of the home. He did not threaten the resident or steal anything. After being spotted, he tried to make a run for it but ended up cornered in a bathroom. Fish and Wildlife were contacted and assisted our deputies in coaxing the mountain lion out of the second story bathroom window. He did get a stern warning about the break-in before being released."
