An officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department is recovering after being shot during a gunfight at a traffic stop over the weekend.
According to the Gazette, the officer—whose name has not been released—suffered non-life-threatening injuries during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect at a traffic stop on Saturday night.
The suspected gunman fled the scene and remains at large.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he is expected to recover.
Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said on Twitter, "Our thoughts are with the CSPD officer who was shot during a routine traffic stop last night. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured and is recovering."
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting.
