According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Police Superintendent David Brown told reporters that the process to implement a new strategy to reduce gun violence in the Windy City is "not even created yet."
Last week, the department announced it will create a citywide violent crime unit after three consecutive weekends with at least 65 people shot and multiple children killed.
The new effort aims to address violent crime and "create community partnerships in some of our most challenging areas" the department said in a statement.
Brown said at the Monday press conference, "Stand by, you’ll see community policing on steroids in this department."
