AZ Police Shoot and Kill Man Armed with Replica Handgun
Police said the man then pointed what was believed to be a handgun into the air before lowering it toward officers. Two officers fired their duty weapons and struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mesa, AZ, police officers early Tuesday morning shot and killed a 36-year-old man who was armed with what later was determined by police to be a replica gun.
The man’s parents called police saying he was armed and being confrontational. Minutes later, officers arrived at the home and the shooting occurred.
"They say that they had an order of protection that needed to be served against the son, we're still trying to get information on the order of protection," Sgt. Chuck Trapani told FOX10.
Police said the man then pointed what was believed to be a handgun into the air before lowering it toward officers. Two officers fired their duty weapons and struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, KTAR reported.
A handgun that was found near the body of Brian W. Schneider, the deceased man, after the shooting was determined to be a replica, according to police.
No officers were injured in the incident and an investigation is ongoing.
