2 Albuquerque Officers Wounded in Active Shooter Incident, Gunman and 1 Other Person Dead
Albuquerque police say the two officers who shot and killed the suspect are expected to be OK. So far, it isn’t clear how a second person who was killed, a woman, is connected to the incident.

Six people were shot Monday afternoon in the Albuquerque Foothills, including two police officers. Two people died, including the suspected shooter.
APD says the two officers who shot and killed the suspect are expected to be OK. So far, it isn’t clear how a second person who was killed, a woman, is connected to the incident, KRQE reports.
Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina says officers initially responded to a 911 call of a man with a gunshot wound. That man was transported to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
As officers got to the scene, making contact with the gunshot victim, Medina says officers heard gunshots east of their location near Montgomery. Moving further east on Montgomery toward the sound of the gunfire, Medina says officers found a second victim with a gunshot wound. That victim managed to drive themselves to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say they found the location where they believed shots were fired. When they arrived in the area, they found a third shooting victim, who was dead in a vehicle.
At a house nearby, officers encountered the person they believe shot all three people. The person came out of the house, there was a confrontation. The officers and the suspect exchanged fire, and the suspect was killed, KOAT reports. Police say they found two handguns at the scene.
The two officers were hit with shotgun pellets, presumed to have been fired by the suspect. One officer was grazed above his eye while the other is said to have been hit with pellets below the bulletproof vest. They are expected to recover.
When asked what led up to the shooting Monday, Chief Medina said it was too early to know.
