A Laurel, MD, police officer was shot Wednesday morning as he and other officers were serving an arrest and search warrant in connection with an attempted murder case.
"He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, and he has recently been released, and is expected to be OK with non-life-threatening injuries," Laurel police spokeswoman Laura Guenin told WBAL.

Police said its emergency response team announced its presence and the suspect fired from inside the house, striking an officer in the arm. The wounded officer is 35 years old with more than six years of service with the Laurel Police Department.
