The No. 2 Whelen Camaro, driven by Sheldon Creed for Richard Childress Racing (RCR), featured a special NLEOMF paint scheme for the race. The artwork included the names of 556 officers killed in the line of duty that were added to the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in 2023.

“We’re proud to support NLEOMF and to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty,” Creed said before Monday’s race. “Carrying the names of the fallen on the decklid of the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet is a special tribute, and our team will make them proud at Charlotte Motor Speedway,” he added. Creed also wore a special NLEOMF-themed fire suit for the race. This is the second year in a row that Whelen Engineering partnered with NLEOMF and RCR to honor fallen officers with a dedicated paint scheme.

“Whelen Engineering has a long history of supporting first responders and their causes, and many of Whelen’s own employees are first responders as well, making it an important part of company culture,” said David Robbins, Whelen’s director of marketing. “We share a mission with NLEOMF to make it safer for those who serve and protect, and we’re honored to help bring awareness to the organization.”

In addition to supporting NLEOMF and its mission, Whelen has also donated emergency warning lights and sirens to law enforcement agencies in need. “These donations help ensure that law enforcement officers have the tools they need to stay safe while protecting their communities,” Whelen says.

“Just like NLEOMF, Whelen is dedicated to promoting public safety and supporting law enforcement officers and their families. Through our partnership with NLEOMF, we hope to make a positive impact on the law enforcement community and help ensure that the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers are never forgotten,” the company added.

Whelen Engineering, headquartered in Chester, CT, is a leading manufacturer of emergency warning lights and sirens for law enforcement vehicles. The company was founded in 1952 by George W. Whelen and is still family-owned and operated.

NLEOMF, based in Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and remembering law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The organization was established in 1984 and runs both the National Law Enforcement Museum and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. The memorial honors more than 23,000 law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities.
