Video: Wichita Police Shoot Armed Teen, "Gang Member" Outside Crowded School Gymnasium
Interim Wichita, KS, Police Chief Nelson Mosley says a 17-year-old gang member was shot by police Friday night after being spotted with a handgun running at officers and toward a crowded high school gymnasium.

Interim Wichita, KS, Police Chief Nelson Mosley says a 17-year-old gang member was shot by police Friday night after being spotted with a handgun running at officers and toward a crowded high school gymnasium.
Mosley says that possible evidence from a recent homicide was linking people in a 1997 Ford F-150 to the crime.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and the truck pulled into the parking lot of West High School. Inside were four males, KAKE TV reports.
Mosley says a 17-year-old male ran from officers out of the truck, armed with a handgun. He says that with multiple officers on the scene, the suspect at times was running at police with a gun.
Mosley says two officers were wearing body cameras and captured the incident as it took place. The police department released a still photo that purportedly shows the suspect holding the gun.
The Wichita Police Department says the suspect was shot two times by an officer. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical but stable condition.
A basketball game at West High School was ongoing with between 200 and 300 people inside the school. The suspect never gained access inside the school, according to police, and no one else was injured.
The 17-year-old suspect is looking at charges of possession of a handgun by a juvenile and possession of a firearm on school grounds.
