Video: Teen Motorist Injured in Houston Police Chase, Officers Kill Suspect
The man who hit her, 41-year-old Frank "Trey" Shephard, was shot by two Houston PD officers after he finally stopped his car, and then appeared to reach back into his vehicle, police say.

An 18-year-old Houston girl who was driving to an EMT training class wound up in the middle of a deadly police chase Wednesday afternoon. She was injured when her car was hit by a man running from police.
Two HPD officers ended up shooting and killing the fleeing driver who hit her.
Eighteen-year-old Andrea Espino is doing OK and told KHOU11 News off camera that her close call makes her more determined than ever to help others as an EMT.
A man fleeing from police plowed through three other cars, injuring Espino. As police dealt with the aftermath at the scene, word spread to Andrea's family, and for a moment their world stopped.
The man who hit her, 41-year-old Frank "Trey" Shephard, was shot by two Houston PD officers after he finally stopped his car, and then appeared to reach back into his vehicle, police say.
"Fearing for their lives that the suspect was reaching for a weapon, two officers did discharge their weapons at the vehicle, striking the suspect and killing him," said Deputy Thomas Gilliland, with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
KHOU11 News looked into Trey Shephard's background and found he's been charged four times in the past with assault, twice with escape, and once with armed robbery.
His family told KHOU11 News that he may have had another warrant out for his arrest and that may be why he ran.
