A Northern Oklahoma police officer was shot in the head Thursday evening during a high-speed pursuit that continued across the Kansas state line. As of Friday morning three suspects were in custody.
Officer Charles Neil of the Oologah (Okla.) Police Department reported tried to pull over the suspects' vehicle and initiated a pursuit after the driver didn't obey.
Neil was shot north of Nowata, Okla., and his car drove off the highway and rolled. He was transported by air to the hospital in serious condition. Fox23 TV reports the officer was alert and talking.
The pursuit was taken up by additional officers and two suspects were taken into custody near Coffeeville, Kan., after their vehicle was disabled with spike strips. Rifles and body armor were found in the suspects' vehicle
A third suspect identified as Alejandro Garcia, was the subject of a manhunt until he was apprehended around 7 a.m. Friday morning.
Garcia reportedly fled on foot from the disabled vehicle Thursday evening. Police say he then shot a man in the neck and carjacked his vehicle. Durant said that victim was an elderly man who is expected to be OK.
