Video: Massachusetts Officer Ambushed and Shot, Suspect in Custody
“Officers also located multiple incendiary devices and were hampered by other hazards in the area. One of the responding officers notified dispatch that he had been shot and was unable to move. Additional officers reported they were pinned down by gunfire and unable to exit the area or continue to the victims.”

A woman was killed and two other people were shot, including a police officer, in what police say was an “ambush” in Bourne, Mass., early Thursday morning.
Bourne police and fire were called to a condominium complex around 2:15 a.m. for a car fire and several explosions.
A burning car was blocking access to the road and as officers tried to move in, police got a 911 call from a woman in the complex. She told police she and another person had been shot and a man had run off.
“Officers made their way to the reported gunshot victims and encountered an armed suspect that had fled the residence,” Bourne police said.
“Officers also located multiple incendiary devices and were hampered by other hazards in the area. One of the responding officers notified dispatch that he had been shot and was unable to move. Additional officers reported they were pinned down by gunfire and unable to exit the area or continue to the victims.”
Several other police departments were called in, including State Police, Falmouth, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.
The shootout lasted about 30 minutes before police were able to capture and arrest the gunman.
The wounded officer was reportedly shot in the back, below his vest. Chief Dennis Woodside of the Bourne PD told CBS Boston that the officer would be "OK."
