TX Officer Fatally Shoots Man Who Rams Police Car
"The information passed to the officers was that the subject's family was able to take a gun away from him before he drove away," the release states. "However, they were not sure if he had any additional weapons."

A Boerne (TX) Police officer shot and killed a 41-year-old man who used his car to ram a patrol vehicle Monday after fleeing from officers earlier.
The fatal shooting was preceded by a high-speed chase through multiple counties, which began after family members of Brandon Cruz reported that he was suicidal, according to a press release from Boerne city officials.
Sergeant Erkskin McMickle, of the Gillespie County Sheriff's Office, told KENS5 they received a call from Cruz' parents who requested a welfare check Monday afternoon. Deputies soon matched his vehicle description to a car that led deputies on the chase.
"The information passed to the officers was that the subject's family was able to take a gun away from him before he drove away," the release states. "However, they were not sure if he had any additional weapons."
The pursuit exceeded 100 mph and Cruz initially was able to get away. However, soon officers were notified the suspect’s vehicle was parked behind an apartment complex and the officer involved in the shooting and a state trooper responded.
The officer and trooper ordered Cruz out of the vehicle, but he reportedly revved his engine then backed into the police vehicle. Cpl. Cheyenne Weber shot at Cruz, hitting him multiple times.
Weber, an 11-year veteran of the Boerne Police Department, has been placed on administrative duty pending an investigation by the Texas Rangers, KSAT reported
