The Muskogee, Oklahoma, Police Department has released body camera and other official video of officers under fire and returning fire during a Dec. 11 domestic violence response call.

One officer was wounded or injured in the firefight. Police say he may have been hit by shrapnel. He was treated and released at a local hospital, KJRH reports.

The suspect, Paul Woods, was shot in the face. He has had surgery and is expected to survive.

The police went to the home because of a call from a woman in Kansas who told 911 that her stepfather Lee Paul Woods was drunk, had a gun, and she was worried for her mother’s safety.

Sgt. Andrew Barman and Officer Michael Cook responded.

Officer Cook went to the side door and saw that the suspect had a gun in his hand, according to the video.

The officers then took cover behind the vehicle. They ordered the suspect to drop the gun. Then the suspect is shown opening fire on the video.

Both officers returned fire, and a third officer— Sergeant James Hamlin—arriving on scene also shot at the suspect from behind a chain link fence.

Woods is facing charges for domestic assault with a dangerous weapon and shooting with intent to kill.
