Off-Duty Chicago Officer Dies By Suicide in Forest Preserve

An off-duty officer with the Chicago Police Department was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Northwest Side of the city on Monday evening.

An off-duty officer with the Chicago Police Department was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Northwest Side of the city on Monday evening.

According to the Chicago Tribune , Cook County Sheriff’s Police found the officer's body in the Bunker Hill Forest Preserve

A procession of police officers delivered the body to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The death is at least the eighth suicide by a Chicago police officer since July 2018.
