NYPD officers rescued six puppies that were tied in a bag together Saturday evening. One officer said on body camera that the puppies were minutes from dying in the heat.

At approximately 6:57 p.m. on Saturday, officers were in Queens when they found a woman attempting to purchase a puppy from another woman at the location. The puppies were tied up in a sack.

Officers took the sack. Officer Glickman cut the bag open, there were five pit bull puppies inside, Fox 5 reports.

"I tried my best to open up the top of the bag and this tiny little snout came through the top of the bag," Officer Glickman said. "I couldn't get the rest of it open. I took my knife, cut the bag open and that's when five other puppies came flooding out."

Police arrested the woman who was selling the puppies. She has been charged with six counts of torturing and injuring an animal, six counts of neglect of impounded animal, and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

The dogs were taken to the ASPCA in Manhattan to be evaluated.
