Mich. Cop Claims Sexism Led To Termination

Though a former Bay City (Mich.) Police officer has filed a lawsuit claiming sexism led to her termination, attorneys representing Bay City are claiming she was fired in part for dereliction of duty.

Though a former Bay City (Mich.) Police officer has filed a lawsuit claiming sexism led to her termination , attorneys representing Bay City are claiming she was fired in part for dereliction of duty, reports the Bay City News.

An attorney representing Bay City, filed a motion Jan. 4 that states the Bay City Police Department dismissed Blood "as a result of progressive disciplinary action which was taken based on multiple instances of misconduct over an eight month period."

The department claims it disciplined Blood for leaving her 3-year-old son unattended in a vehicle in the department's parking lot while she was on duty, failing to disclose an intimate relationship with a coworker, leaving a crime scene without permission, being involved in a physical altercation at a Bay City bar, being involved in a traffic crash while under the influence of alcohol and leaving the site and not showing up to work on Aug. 2, 2010, the day before her employment was terminated.
