Louisville Bank Shooting Victim Meets Officers
Dallas Schwartz, who according to the police was the first to be wounded during the April 10 shooting at Old National Bank, wanted to meet the officers that saved her life.

Dallas Schwartz, the first person wounded in the April bank shooting, Thursday visited with the Louisville Metro Police Department officers who rendered aid to her that day.

She was reunited with the officers Thursday morning and sat and visited for nearly an hour. The department reports that at the conclusion of the visit, they all exchanged phone numbers and pledged to keep in touch.
Police detail, in a social media post, Schwartz’s actions after being shot.
Hiding from Gunman
She escaped to a bathroom inside the first floor of the bank and attempted to fashion her scarf into a makeshift tourniquet. She first called 911 and then her family, as she remained hidden in a bathroom stall.
After hiding, the first people she saw were Louisville police officers, the same ones she visited recently.
“They found Dallas and quickly realized she needed immediate medical attention. They rendered aid by applying multiple tourniquets, scooped her up, and carried her to an awaiting EMS ambulance,” LMPD explained in the post.
Wounded Officer
Rookie Officer Nickolas Wilt and his training officer Cory C.J. Galloway came under fire in their vehicle as they arrived in response to the shooting and were ambushed by the shooter, who was still inside the bank.
Because of the type of glass on the bank lobby windows, the shooter also had the advantage of being able to see the officers while not being seen.
Wilt was seriously wounded and is still recovering. He had recently graduated from the police academy less than two weeks before the shooting.
The 23-year-old suspect, identified as an employee of the bank, was killed in a gunfight with police.
