The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has teamed up with Jeff Gordon and DuPont to run a special Police Museum.org paint scheme accompanied by the Memorial Fund's "Rose and Shield" symbol on the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet at Dover International Speedway on Sept. 26.

With the anniversary of September 11th approaching, the special design strives to respect, honor and remember the law enforcement officers who lost their lives on that fateful day, and those who continue to protect Americans every day of the year.

"I truly hope NASCAR fans see www.PoliceMuseum.org on the car and visit the web site to make donations, purchase a T-shirt or a No. 24 DuPont die-cast of the paint scheme that resembles the colors of a police cruiser, or to see how else they can get involved," said Jeff Gordon.

DuPont's support of the Memorial Fund is provided through a combination of cash, in-kind marketing services, and materials toward the construction of the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, D.C., expected to open in late 2013. Groundbreaking for the Museum will take place on October 14, 2010.

"After an 18-year partnership with DuPont that produces the Kevlar, Nomex, and Tyvek that go into the protective wear that helps keep our men and women in uniform safe, I jumped right on board with them when they told me they were supporting the National Law Enforcement Museum," said Jeff Gordon.

The 55,000 square-foot National Law Enforcement Museum will be built under the Memorial in Judiciary Square and will tell the story of American law enforcement through exhibits, collections, research and education. The Museum aims to build mutual respect and foster cooperation between the public and the law enforcement profession, contributing to a safer society and serving to uphold the democratic ideals of the U.S. Constitution. It is expected to have nearly 500,000 visitors per year, and will be funded by private donations. For more information visit www.PoliceMuseum.org .
