Sheriff Al Nienhuis said the bomb is probably inert; however, due to the bomb being so rusted and decayed, there’s no way of telling if it’s live or inert.

Hernando County Sheriff's deputies were called to investigate this object believed to be a World War II-era bomb Tuesday. It's believed it may be an inert training bomb. A bomb squad and Air Force personnel also responded.

Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis announced the possible World War II-era bomb was unearthed by a construction company on the site of the future Simpson Technical College campus in Brooksville, WFLA reports.
At this time, it’s unknown if the item is inert or live. Nienhuis said the bomb is probably inert; however, due to the bomb being so rusted and decayed, there’s no way of telling if it’s live or inert.
The Citrus County bomb squad is responding, as well as MacDill Air Force representatives.
A Mark 65 is a 1,000-pound bomb. It was used in World War II, the Korean War, and sometimes in the Vietnam War.
