A Boulder, CO, police officer was stabbed in the shoulder when he and other officers responded to the report of a woman refusing to leave a North Boulder grocery store.
Colorado Officer Stabbed in the Shoulder
A woman refusing to leave a grocery store stabbed one Boulder, CO, officer and lunged at a second before being taken into custody after less-lethal rounds were deployed.

An image taken from body-worn camera video shows the moment when a Boulder, CO, officer was stabbed in the shoulder by a woman refusing to leave a grocery store earlier this week.

Officers responded to Lucky’s Market around 6.30 p.m., May 1, and were told the woman was acting erratically, speaking nonsensically, and that she had mud on her face.
According to a Boulder Police Department social media post, officers talked with the woman for several minutes and tried to get her to leave the store. But she suddenly pulled out a knife.
At that point, the armed woman advanced toward the officer, lunged at him, and stabbed him in the shoulder. While the officer backed away after being stabbed, the assailant advanced toward a female officer and likewise tried to lunge toward her with the knife.
As other officers arrived, police attempted de-escalation and ultimately fired less-lethal sponge rounds.
The woman was taken into custody, checked out at an area hospital, and booked into the jail on charges of two counts of felony 1st-degree assault, two counts of felony menacing, one count of misdemeanor trespassing, and one misdemeanor count of obstruction/resisting arrest.
“I’m very thankful that our officer’s injuries were not more serious and also thankful to the team that negotiated with the suspect to get her in custody without any further injuries to anyone,” interim Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn said.

This image shows when the woman produced a knife before lunging and attacking the officer.
