Three years prior, on Oct. 5, 2020, Collins was shot and killed as he and two other officers were conducting an investigation at a local hotel. He had served with the Pine Bluff Police Department for five years.

Police said 19-year-old Keshone Quantarious Smith, who had been wanted on robbery and murder charges in Conyers, GA, was the shooter that killed Collins.
