Three Pittsburgh, PA, police cars were destroyed by fire outside the department’s North Side training academy early Wednesday.
Just after 2:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire and Pittsburgh Police responded to the parking lot directly adjacent to the Police Training Academy, police report. The three police cars were fully engulfed in flames.
The fires are considered suspicious, according to the Pittsburg Bureau of Police, and are being investigated by the Fire Investigation Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
"Those vehicles were fully engulfed in flames, and it's pretty safe to say that those are going to be a total loss," police spokesperson Amanda Mueller tells KDKA.
The building did not sustain damage from the vehicle fires.
