Enough is Enough!
Those in our profession have always been in harm's way. But over the past several years and especially over the past few months, we have seen the effect that irresponsible rhetoric can have in exacerbating the current climate of mistrust and transforming it into violence targeting police officers. We have to say, with one voice, "Enough is enough!"

How many times do we consider what we would do if someone introduced a knife into a fight in which we were already engaged? Do we have the ability to draw and fire? Can we create distance or even defend ourselves properly in order to survive the attack? These are questions rarely addressed.

Supervisors must be specific when they communicate, or expect to pay the price for not doing so. Specificity is important for three main reasons: to ensure the success of the task, to eliminate any questionable officer issues, and in case disciplinary actions become required.
