A federal jury awarded $9,100 to a North Carolina man who was injured by a Tennessee state trooper during a traffic stop. The man's dog was also shot and killed by police during the incident.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) received a $10,000 gift from FOX Home Entertainment in honor of the 20th Anniversary DVD of the "COPS" television program. The check was recently presented by "COPS" creator John Langley at the NASCAR Auto Club 500 race at California Speedway.

L.A. Sheriff’s SWAT Team Rescues Elderly Woman in Standoff
LASD SWAT was called to home in an unincorporated area of Claremont around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies say they were responding to two 911 calls from the alleged shooter and his wife. The wife, 51, was shot in the chest and fled to a neighbor’s home, leaving her mother, 95, inside.

Charlotte Officer Wounded in Shooting
Charlotte-Mecklenburg SWAT came under fire Wednesday as they served an arrest warrant in a north Charlotte home. An officer and a suspect were wounded in the gunfight. A Salvadorian illegal immigrant and his brother were charged and arrested.

Georgia Gang Members Convicted of Murder, Drug, and Multiple Violent Crimes
Five Georgia gang members were convicted earlier this week in federal district court of criminal charges that include racketeering, murder, attempted murder, assault, methamphetamine trafficking, and numerous related firearms offenses. The jury convicted the defendants after six weeks of trial and two days of deliberations.
