The Oklahoma City Police Department has released video of an Aug. 22 pursuit that followed the fatal shooting of an Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Deputy. Officers exchanged fire with the suspect during the pursuit and an attempt was made to stop the pursuit with a tactical intervention.

Oklahoma City officers responded to a shots fired call at approximately 1:18 p.m. at an address where deputies had exchanged fire with a resident while serving an eviction notice. Sheriff’s Sergeant Bobby Swartz was killed and another deputy was wounded.

Responding officers learned that the suspect, Benjamin Plank, had fled the scene in a truck hauling a trailered boat. They also learned that the suspect had loaded several firearms into the truck before driving away, police say.

After the suspect’s vehicle was spotted, a pursuit began and continues on several highways in the Oklahoma City area. Shots were fired at officers and officers returned fire. Police report that no one was hit.

The pursuit ended with the suspect being taken into custody at the gate of Tinker Air Force Base.

Plank has been charged with first-degree murder, three counts of shooting with intent to kill, and one count of using a vehicle to facilitate the intentional discharge of a firearm.
