Police fatally shot a suspected carjacker on a rooftop in Long Beach, CA, after they say he refused to put his weapon down and continued pointing it at officers. Following its investigation, the department revealed that the man kidnapped, physically assaulted, and attempted to carjack a victim prior to officers arriving on scene.
Officers responded to reports of a dispute inside a vehicle after being dispatched at 11:10 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, officers found the man on top of a roof holding what they believed was a firearm reports CBS Los Angeles.
Police investigators report the man would not comply with officers’ demands to put the weapon down and say he continued to point the firearm at officers, so police established a perimeter and called for the SWAT team.
