Detroit police are searching for two men they say fired multiple shots at officers in a squad car early Saturday during a pursuit. The car was struck several times, but no officers were injured.
Police were pursuing suspects in a newer black Ford Fusion with silver Rims. According to a statement by Detroit Police, they say someone inside the car fired shots at the patrol car striking it several times during the pursuit. The rear-seat passenger, shown hanging out of the car in dashcam images, was armed with a 9mm handgun, according to police.
The officers continued the pursuit after taking gunfire.
“This heinous act is irresponsible and could have taken the lives of the officers and innocent bystanders. We will aggressively pursue these suspects until they are in custody,” says a Twitter post by the department.
