Delivery Driver Reportedly Destroyed Elderly Couple's Groceries Over Police Support Sign

The driver yelled for them to check inside their Christmas wreath, where they found a receipt with a "derogatory message" against them and police was written on it.

Blaine, MN, police are investigating an elderly couple's claim that an Instacart shopper drove over their groceries last week, possibly in response to a pro-law enforcement sign in their front yard.

According to a news release, the couple had placed an order for delivery from Cub Foods the morning of Dec. 6, and once the driver arrived at their home, the couple went outside to meet the driver.

The driver yelled for them to check inside their Christmas wreath, where they found a receipt with a "derogatory message" written on it, KTSP reports.

"It says Instacart doesn't pay employees, find another slave,  f*** the police, racist, pigs," shared Brian Podany, Chief of Police for the Blaine Police Department.

The couple told police that they didn't find any groceries on the front porch; instead, they said the groceries had been run over in the driveway.

The couple has reportedly received a full refund from Instacart. In a statement, the company said it is "appalled by the unacceptable actions of this shopper, who has been removed from the Instacart platform as a result."

The accused driver, Tara Olivia Plum, 36, of Coon Rapids was cited for criminal damage to property, Capt. Mark Boerboom of the Blaine Police Police Department told the Star Tribune. If found guilty, she could be sentenced to up to 90 days in jail. A court date has not been set, he said.

An online fundraiser started by a younger relative of the couple had raised more than $12,700 as of Wednesday morning.
