Billionaire Ross Perot Jr. has donated a helicopter to the Dallas Police Department.

The new Bell 407 helicopter was added to the Dallas PD fleet Tuesday when it landed in front of City Hall and was accepted by Mayor Eric Johnson and Chief of Police Eddie Garcia. “This generous gift from the Ross Perot Jr. Family and Hillwood Aviation will help improve public safety in the City of Dallas,” Chief Garcia said.

The donation process began one year ago when Perot Jr. reached out to the city and inquired about the needs of another helicopter.

"The addition of this helicopter to an existing maturing fleet will immediately provide increased operable capabilities, great critical response, and longer flight times. This will extend beyond the parameters of the department and will be a useful resource for other city departments. The department is thrilled to have Mr. Perot Jr.’s support in working together towards making Dallas the safest city in America," Dallas PD said through DPD Beat.
