PA Chief Shot Assisting Parole Officers

The chief was in good condition after being taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown on Wednesday afternoon. He is expected to make a full recovery and was with family and friends at the hospital.

A Yardley, PA, man is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly shot and injured the small town's police chief Joseph Kelly III after a call for assistance turned violent Wednesday.

Chief Kelly, 54, was shot in the hand and part of the ear with a shotgun, police said. 

Colin Petroziello, 24, was taken into custody shortly after a more than four-hour standoff that started at 11 a.m.

The shooting happened shortly after 11 a.m. when parole officers called for assistance when the visit to Petroziello, who police identified as the shooter after the standoff, turned violent, the Courier Times reports.
