Two Wisconsin officers, one from Delafield and one from Hartland, were shot and wounded outside a Holiday Inn while responding to a hit-and-run call Friday.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers confronted the suspect. Shots were exchanged and the two officers were hit.

The suspect fled.

Both officers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Fox6 reports.

The suspect was apprehended after a more than nine-hour manhunt, apparently he had been hiding in a field near the scene of the shooting.

He has been identified by law enforcement as Nathanael Benton.

Benton, 23, is reportedly wanted on an attempted homicide charge in Fargo, ND.

Police said the suspect was accompanied by two other people -- a 29-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man -- from Indiana. All three are in custody.
