Federal Officer Fatally Shot in Oakland

An officer with the Federal Protective Service was shot and killed Friday night in Oakland amid protests over the death of George Floyd.

According to KRON-TV News, 53-year-old Patrick Underwood was seeking to secure the scene of a violent protest when he was shot and killed by an assailant whose name has not yet been released.

A second officer—whose name has not been released—was also injured in the shooting and is presently in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

The FBI and other agencies are investigating the killing of Patrick Underwood as an act of domestic terrorism.
