Former Dallas Officer Acquitted in 2017 Shooting Death of Woman

A former officer with the Dallas Police Department has been acquitted in the shooting death of 21-year-old Genevive Dawesin 2017.

A former officer with the Dallas (TX) Police Department has been acquitted in the shooting death of 21-year-old Genevive Dawesin 2017.

According to ABC News, a jury deliberated for approximately 10 hours before returning a verdict of not guilty in the legal proceeding against 42-year-old Christopher Hess.

Hess reportedly fired 12 times on a vehicle occupied by Dawes as the car sped in his direction. Body camera footage of the incident from other officers present was instrumental in the jury's finding.

Relatives of the woman expressed dismay at the verdict.
