A student driver in the United Kingdom who led police on a vehicle pursuit that reached a top speed of 137 miles per hour has been sentenced to eight months in jail.

A student driver in the United Kingdom who led police on a vehicle pursuit that reached a top speed of 137 miles per hour has been sentenced to eight months in jail.

According to Fox News, police attempted to perform a traffic stop on the man—identified as 23-year-old Leon Lloyd—for not having proper insurance when he took off at a high rate of speed.

Dash-cam video of the incident shows the blue Subaru Impreza crossing middle lines and weaving in and out of traffic in an attempt to make an escape.

The pursuit ended when the car's engine blew up and the car drifted to a stop.
