An officer with the Boerne (TX) Police Department is recovering from injuries sustained when she was struck by a suspected drunk driver while directing traffic at a Friday night high school football game.

According to MySA.com, Officer Michele Van Stavern—a school resource officer who works at another facility in the school district during the day—was badly injured when she was struck by a pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Andrew Harris.

Van Stavern suffered lacerations to her left arm and head, a fractured wrist, and several broken ribs.

She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated and is now listed in stable condition.

Harris—who stopped after he struck Van Stavern—was arrested by DPS troopers and charged with intoxication assault.
