DOJ COPS Grants Application Process Expected to Open Soon

On July 12, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Department of Justice in the City of Los Angeles v. William P. Barr, Attorney General, lifting the nationwide injunction on COPS Hiring Program and the Microgrants.

The Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office has announced that it will soon be opening applications for both the 2018 and 2019 COPS Hiring Program (CHP) and the Community Policing Development Microgrant Initiative.

On July 12, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Department of Justice in the City of Los Angeles v. William P. Barr, Attorney General, lifting the nationwide injunction on CHP and the Microgrants. 

"The COPS Office plans to open solicitations for both the 2018 and 2019 funding in the coming days. Once the solicitations are open and we’re ready to receive applications, we’ll send an additional notice with links to all of the appropriate materials," the Office said in a press release. The solicitations will be open for approximately 60 days and awards are expected to be announced in December.To contact the COPS Office Response Center, call (800) 421-6770.
