A Honolulu man has been charged with attempted first-degree assault for attacking a law enforcement officer with a screwdriver and first-degree attempted theft of a firearm.

According to the Star Advertiser, police arrested 36-year-old Remington Troy Guyton on Sunday following an attack on an officer who was responding to reports of a man behaving violently in a Honolulu neighborhood.

Guyton allegedly charged the officer, struck him on his right cheek just above his neck with the screwdriver and caused a puncture wound, and then attempted to grab the officer's gun.

The officer subdued the subject with the assistance of a good Samaritan.
