Tennessee Man Fleeing Police Arrested for Striking Officer with Vehicle

A man who was fleeing officers with the Knoxville (TN) Police Department has been arrested and now faces a host of charges after he reportedly struck an officer with his vehicle.

A man who was fleeing officers with the Knoxville (TN) Police Department has been arrested and now faces a host of charges after he reportedly struck an officer with his vehicle.

According to WATE-TV, police were called to a local church to investigate a possible theft of some sporting equipment. Officers Nick Ferro and Richard Bouruff came upon the subject sitting in a vehicle.

As Ferro was trying to take the subject in custody, police say the man sped out of the parking lot, hitting Ferro with the vehicle and knocking him to the ground.

The man—identified as 25-year-old Jason Romines—has been charged with aggravated assault on an officer, felony evading arrest in a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, driving on a suspended license, violation of vehicle registration, and theft.

Officer Ferro was not seriously hurt.
