The Kiel (WI) 911 call center received a report on Thursday night to a call that a woman had begun labor and was in need of immediate assistance. EMS were dispatched, but Kiel Police Officer Joe Jeanty arrived to the scene first.

Jeanty — who has been in law enforcement for 11 years — quickly determined that the woman was indeed in labor.

“The baby decided not to wait for the Kiel EMS to arrive on scene,” KPD Chief David Funkhouser posted to the agency’s Facebook page.

“Joe Jeanty delivered the baby boy and turned over care of mom and son to Kiel EMS when they arrived,” the Facebook post continued. “I spoke to the father this morning who reported both mom and son are doing great.”
