Investigators say an auxiliary officer was clearing his gun in another room when it discharged a bullet. The bullet traveled through the wall and struck Corporal James Bertorello in the leg. The injuries were deemed not life-threatening, 4029 TV reports.

"Both of the officers have been extensively trained. I don’t know if it was a gun malfunction, or if it was the officer," said Sergeant Mike Wilbanks with the Farmington Police Department.
