An off-duty Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff's deputy was arrested Monday and relieved of duty for fleeing from a colleague who attempted to pull him over.

Deputy Aaron Larkin, 27, was driving his girlfriend's silver Infiniti without a seatbelt and with an expired tag. Larkin told deputies he had hoped to avoid contact with officers, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Larkin initially lied to deputies, saying he had not been driving the car, but later changed his story. He was arrested at his girlfriend's apartment later on Sunday.
